Blackwood

This project involved a recently finished alteration and addition to a house in Boundary Street, Clovelly.

By elevating the living areas to level one, architects McGregor Westlake Architecture were able to take advantage of sunlight and views to Waverley Cemetery on the north and the cooling ocean breezes and coastline views to the south.

Half of the existing house was retained to rebuild on existing favourable setbacks.

All demolished brick work was reused to frame the central entry void which connects both levels and houses a sculptural steel stair case.

Windows were placed strategically to ensure light and air was always multi directional creating ever-changing atmospheres within the house.
