VEGA – Australian Headquarters

VEGA – Australian Headquarters

VEGA Australia approached Sydney-based architects Archisoul to design their new Australian Headquarters.

The company, founded in Germany, is a global manufacturer of level and pressure instrumentation for the process industry.

Located on a prominent 5,400m2 site with three street frontages, the Archisoul design embraces a complex brief to facilitate VEGA’s regional head office as well as conference, exhibition, training, and warehouse facilities within 2,100m2 of gross floor area.

The client brief embodied a company-wide aspiration to create environments that foster staff creativity, connection, and wellbeing.

And the architecture needed to reflect VEGA’s reputation for quality and precision as well as its sustainable ethos.

These were key factors in Archisoul’s appointment to the project.

Their design fulfilled Vega’s program within three separate buildings.

All are highly responsive to each other and the surrounding environment.

Building functions were strategically planned to utilize passive design principles through responsive building envelope treatments.

Architecture and landscape have been seamlessly integrated with a central courtyard created between the main building and a smaller training facility to preserve a row of large Eucalyptus Trees and create a welcoming canopy.

The overall design synthesizes the German origins of the company with the Australian context of the site.

The design concept was executed through rigorous technical analysis and thorough cost control, in collaboration with Archisoul’s highly-focused team of consultants.

This close collaboration and coordination ensured that the design delivered a connection to the company’s Black Forest headquarters in Germany, whilst conveying the honest and robust nature of the buildings.

As a family-owned business, Vega has a unique focus on employee wellbeing that fosters longevity of tenure within the company.

That approach is underpinned by their focus on inclusivity and making the work environment as conducive as it is productive.

It was therefore crucially important that the new Sydney headquarters reflect the same employee wellbeing as the headquarters in Germany.

To assist with that, Archisoul’s Principal and Senior Architect visited the German operation firsthand, forging a close connection with their visionary clients whilst there.
